World Market for VITA Standards-based Boards and SystemsThe full market report: “World Market for VITA Standards-based Boards and Systems – 2023 Edition”, is now available for purchase from the VITA online store. Areas covered include:
Executive SummaryVITA member companies were surveyed during 2023 to reflect on performance and business risks and trends in 2021 and 2022. Sales of VITA standards-based products (VME, VPX, and PMC/XMC) were surveyed for the merchant only sales. Defense systems suppliers may manufacture VITA standards-based boards, modules and sub-systems in-house for their own system-build requirements and these additional numbers, which may be substantial, are generally not disclosed in the public domain and not included in this report. It is estimated that the merchant market rose an estimated 12.3% in 2021 from the 2020 levels reported in the previous edition of this report. The increase in 2021 is largely due to increased defense spending in response to global politics. From 2021 to 2022, annual sales are estimated to have decreased 5.4%. The decrease in 2022 is attributed to the supply chain disruption in critical components following the Covid 19 pandemic. Mercury Systems remains overall market leader with a 32.3% share of combined boards and systems, followed by Abaco Systems with 23.7% and Curtiss Wright Defense Systems with 19.7%. The outlook for 2023 improved as the supply chain issues eased and the heavy order backlog began to unwind into sales revenues leading to a forecast uptick in sales revenues of 4.9% on average and with some suppliers hoping to post double-digit increases for the year. VITA members were also surveyed on the general business environment in terms of business risks and business trends. |
